Because we care: Diversity & inclusion at Bluecrux

Our goal as a global company is to positively impact our clients by helping them build tomorrow’s value chains for a better future. We believe the best way to realize this goal is through employees with high morale, high productivity and high creativity. As a company, we can achieve this by promoting a diverse, open and inclusive environment. Interestingly enough, Forbes and Harvard Business Review both confirmed this in research they carried out in 2020.

At Bluecrux, we actively work on being a diverse and inclusive organization by empowering individuals to be themselves, by acknowledging each other’s differences and by engaging everyone in multiple initiatives. Let’s dive into the details.

The beginning of our diversity & inclusion chapter

Our story begins with Bluecrux growing into a global company that promotes individuality within each person and embraces the cultural diversity of our colorful tribe. The D&I chapter is an initiative launched through passionate beecees (a nickname for our employees) looking to serve the Bluecrux community with information, awareness and empathy while enabling a ripple effect of inclusivity. While we believe this has always been part of Bluecrux’s culture, we felt it was the right time to give it a more formal place within our organization. With this newly established D&I chapter, the first goal was to clearly document our mission and definition for diversity and inclusion.

Our mission

Bluecrux strives to create, nurture and sustain a diverse community. We promote a place where everyone can be themselves, speak their mind and is recognized for their talent. By promoting fairness and inclusion, we are enabled to approach our clients with an open mind. We are a colorful tribe. We are Bluecrux.

Definition

Our intention is simply to embrace, respect, value and treat everyone equally. Nothing more, nothing less.

Our strategy

We aim to raise awareness, educate ourselves and practice enablement. Awareness means that we are consistently informing everyone about topics and issues to influence behaviors and beliefs in a positive way. Education involves seeking out and cultivating knowledge so that we are equipped to make the best decisions. Practicing means spotting problems and having the judgment and courage to take action.

Accomplishments

Vincent van Gogh once said, “Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.” Our attitude and action for D&I could not have been phrased any better.

Raising awareness

Monthly newsletters. We have started sharing current events from across the globe so we can learn about various cultures from one another’s perspectives

Educating ourselves

Speaker series. We have invited leaders from Black Lives Matter and experts on the history of racism to share detailed insights

Practicing enablement

Internship program. We have created a rotational program to mentor and provide opportunities for underprivileged college students

Additionally, we always make an effort to reflect on our internal cultures, create safe spaces for colleagues to share opinions and seek out educational content that is applicable to our personal and professional lives. The D&I chapter also gives the confidence and security to our beecees to speak up about these topics.

Of course, these are just the first steps that we have taken to give diversity and inclusion more visibility in our organization. It always has been, and will continue to be, a fundamental part of our company culture. Like with everything we do at Bluecrux, we want to keep evolving, maturing and growing this initiative, and challenge ourselves to be better, each day. Reach out if you’d like to know more, challenge us and join us in building a better tomorrow!
